Meet Kayla – class of 2010.  Seems odd to be blogging 2010 seniors when we are photographing 2011’s now, but well, I’m a little behind in the blog dept.

As you can see, Kayla had some pretty specific ideas for her senior session, some of which involved water…lots of it.  So off to the river we went.  Walking around this area kind of had me feeling like we were on the set of Lost.  Kayla got right into the role as we wandered through the rainforest.  It was a perfect day and the temperature was just right…until we encountered the river.  Let’s just say that I was more than impressed with Kayla’s willingness to jump right in to the (very) cold water and wade around like it was a warm bath.  Fantastic job Kayla.

Faves.

Meet Melinda.  Another wonderful marriage of style & attitude.  Melinda’s “everywhere” session started in our studio and finished in the delicious evening light out in the fields.  Tina(mom) was on set as fashion consultant, hair advisor, and mobile clothing rack.  This session was a real adventure, marching through trees, bushes and a creek, Melinda was game to go wherever needed to get the shot.  Her subtlety in expressions were just perfect and completely natural.  Another magical experience for me.  Thank you!

Some faves.

Meet Taylor…and Gina.  This was quite a special session as both Taylor and Gina had their senior session at the same time, a first for me.  Another “special” element to their session…rain.  The girls were great sports about this and we waited patiently for mother nature to do her thing.  A few drops here and there didn’t deter Taylor from looking fantastic.  Eventually, we had to throw in the towel and continue a few days later.  This turned out to be a good thing as Taylor got to change her look for the “in the fields” portion of her session.  Thank you Taylor and Gina for the experience, it was great!  Some faves…

Meet Katie, class of 2010.  Still a bit behind here and wrapping up blogging our 2010 seniors.  Katie knew just the look she wanted for her senior session and brought some great clothing choices to her consultation.

We arrived at the location and things couldn’t have been better.  Katie dove right in and got into character (you know, the beautiful girl lost in the field role) and just lit things up.

I tend to lose track of time on these location sessions so thankfully Katie’s mom brought a book…I think she finished it..  It just seemed that every 50 feet there was some new interesting area for great photographs.  Thank you Katie for braving the mud, bugs, snakes I mean thistles & thorns…it was totally worth it.  Fantastic job!

Now some faves..

Dance like there is no one looking…well, except me and my camera…

Meet Kayla, Rocklin High class of 2010, dancer extraordinaire.  And meet Kayla’s boots!  She had some great ideas for what she wanted her senior portraits to be, so off to old Sac we went.  It was a perfect weather day and once again I was overwhelmed with photographic possibilities here.  Kayla was great at climbing, walking, and jumping on things to keep in character with her footwear.  Boots for some, tap shoes for others…perfect!  We finished off back at the studio for a moodier dramatic look with that snazzy blue dress.

Thanks so much for another great adventure.

I love it when clients have specific locations in mind for their senior portraits, and I really love it when the locations look like this!  Meet Bridget, Oak Ridge High class of 2010.  Bridget decided to have us up in her neck of the woods for her portrait session, and the day was perfect…so was the light.  She also brought along a personal make up artist to help with different looks during the session, very cool!  I had a great time here and Bridget made things easy being so comfortable in front of the lens.  She was particularly good about acting out “scenes”, especially the “I’m lost and wandering around in this gorgeous dress” story:)

We ended with a few photos on the balcony and Marti (mom) was kind enough to serve up some spinach dip, pita chips and mini hot dogs…perfect way to end a session.  Thanks so much!

Meet the lovely Lyra, class of 2010.  Another great session here, Lyra’s choices of colors and fabrics were perfect.  We took a walk through the old neighborhood and found all kinds of interesting places to photograph.  Lyra was fairly quiet at her consultation, but once  the camera came out, she was full of expression.   And check out her hand colored shoes!  Here are some of the faves.  Excellent job Lyra!

Meet Haley, Granite Bay High 2010.  I’ll never forget Haley’s senior portrait consultation.  As I recall, she and her mom showed up well, empty handed.   We always ask for a variety of clothes for this consultation and we have seen everything from duffle bags, to clothing racks, even grocery bags full of clothing…but nothing?  So we spent the time chatting about different looks, and what Haley had in mind for her senior portraits…and laughed a lot.

p.s.  Haley is a hoot.

So is her mom.

Put them in a room together and the place cracks up.

We got the details nailed down and off they went.  About an hour later Haley’s mom called just to say she was all over it and was totally going shopping for some new duds. “We’re excited and we will definitely be ready!”

The day of the session, Haley arrived with all kinds of cool stuff as promised, and those red shoes…  We had a great time out and about and Haley looked wonderful.  Here are some of my faves.
