Teagan and I took Reilly over to CJ’s (our favorite kids salon) to get her hair “trimmed” as she was long overdue. While I was in the play area with Teagan, Carla came around the corner and said, “James, Reilly has decided to changed it up a little, I think we need to chat.”

Anyway, the ‘trim’ turned into quite the chop, and when she was done, Reilly just sat in the chair smiling in the mirror. Isn’t it cute?

The McConnell boys are near and dear to my heart as their mama is one of my oldest friends. Leanna and I have known each other since high school but really became great friends right after and have remained so over the years. Despite us always living in different parts of the state from each other and not talking nearly enough anymore, she’s still one of my dearest friends, which is why these photographs of her boys are even more special! C and L are two of the sweetest boys, and we’re so sad they live far away. Did I mention their auntie is also our best babysitter?? We just love this family!

Best intentions….

We had been reading about the full scale replica of the Nina docked in Old Sacramento for a while and finally decided to take the girls to see it.

We were a day late…

So…we visited the old schoolhouse, had lunch and went to the treat shop, which disappointingly was more interesting to the girls than anyting Old Sac had to offer.

This scene lasted about 20 seconds…all the time it took Teagan to realize that chalk made really annoying sounds on the board.

Reilly read the list of punishments…and was not amused.

One hot momma!

Reilly’s toughest decision of the day. What to get at the treat shop.

Hey, those gymnastics lessons are paying off!

Miss G was just over 2 months old when we photographed her. We met her family over a year ago when big brother, C, came for his 2 year portraits. She was one of the most content babies I’ve ever seen and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to feed her a bottle while they were here! Have I mentioned that I love getting my baby fixes from all of the adorable little ones we photograph?

We met the Gladden family at Adventure Christian School where Reilly went to pre-school for 2 years and where Teagan is just getting ready to start. The oldest Gladden son and Reilly were in the same 4-year old class together the year before last. Well, we donated a portrait session and wall portrait to the Adventure Christian School annual fundraiser/silent auction and the Gladden’s were the high bidders! Another small world story….right before they came for their session, their friends/neighbors, the Andersen’s, had come for a family portrait session not knowing that each had appointments with us. Too funny! We loved working with the Gladden’s and poor Miss C was not on her game according to mom and dad (although you wouldn’t know it looking at these images!); come to find out, she had a fever when they got home that evening. Poor thing was such a trooper even though she wasn’t feeling great! Thanks for hanging in there with us!

Miss E is a recent Bebe Collection graduate, and boy has she changed over the past year! She has been so fun to photograph and get to know, and we love that her mom wanted to do the whole tutu look…one of my personal favs! These images of her on the sidewalk are just priceless, and her great grandma thought so, too, as she decided to get a storyboard of them just for herself! We can’t wait to photograph E’s family together this fall…stay tuned!

We just don’t know yet…

Stef and I joined our good friends Jourdan & Kirsten for the Sacramento film festival Saturday night. Jourdan is a filmmaker and had two entries in the festival. They were both stellar! it was fantastic to see them on the big screen with an audience…way cool.

Anyway, we are anxiously awaiting how the judges felt, as this year they didn’t annouce the winners immediately after the show. tick tick tick….

“Sold out?!?, Hey man, I’m the director!”

If you haven’t been to the Crest, you should check it out. Coolest theatre in town.

The silver purple screen

Anxiously awaiting his premiere.

My fave from the evening.

The Posey family has been coming to us since big sis, W, was just a baby. Well, she’s all “grown up” now at the ripe old age of 3 1/2 and showed little brother the ropes. W is and always has been a bit reserved and pensive–much harder to get a smile out of than her brother, T. T on the other hand, wouldn’t stop smiling! He just cracked us up the entire time they were with us; it didn’t matter where we were or what the situation, T was flashing his big grin. Okay, for a slight moment he cried, but that was only after he tumbled off the steps and crashed on his nose! Then it was back to all smiles. I have to give kudos to Tracy for doing such a great job coordinating the family’s clothing; it’s not easy putting together different colors and patterns that don’t all match but still look great together, but she did awesome!

While we were out having some coffee, Reilly asked once again to pick up the camera. I tried to fool her with different things in front of me…she still got it. Here is her favorite from the evening. Way to nail that 1.4 Reilly!

The Bennion family came to us primarily for baby N’s newborn portraits, but a nice bi-product was the other great images we captured of the rest of the family! Big brother A, although not completely thrilled about the whole thing, did great nonetheless and gave us some priceless expressions. We’re excited to get to see this loving family 2 more times over the next year, as baby N is a recent Bebe Collection member. We found out just after the family picked up their portraits that they all of the sudden are even more important, as they received news that dad, Keith, will be going to Iraq next spring.
