Miss E was another one of our “Little Angels”, and did she ever live up to that! From her gorgeous soft curls to her sweet, shy disposition, E seemed to enjoy her moment in the spotlight. As much as mom loved the portraits, they became even more important when Miss E fell and lost her two front teeth the day after mom saw the images for the first time. These were the last photographs they’ll have for several years (she’s only 4) with her 2 front teeth!

This angel was especially fun for me (Stef) because I’ve known her mom since we were younger than Miss E. Our families used to go camping (motor homes, not tents!) together for years; boating during the summer at Lake Shasta, motorcycle riding in the dirt (or mud) during the cooler seasons. It’s crazy to me because I still think of Kerry and me as 7 years old playing crazy-eights in front of the motor home in our bathing suits! Not sure why we aren’t still doing that…..:-)

Our country lost a great voice this fathers day weekend.

I saw this clip Saturday morning and what struck me most was that all who were interviewed, though they respected his professional career and what a great journalist Tim was, commented more on Tim Russert the man and who he was; what he was passionate about…his faith, his family, his life.

I post this today because there was no other journalist that was equally proud of being a father as he was his professional career. He was a great example and reminder for all of us who are fathers.

Well, I am proud to be a father, for the joys, the opportunities, and responsibilities it brings.

I am proud of my father, and everything he has made me to be.

Thanks dad, happy fathers day.

…another year older today! Had some work to do this morning, but then we all saddled up for a fab meal at the newly opened Cheesecake Factory here in Roseville. Yum! That place never disappoints. Then it was off to Scandinavian Designs to check out furniture for our redesigned living room/gallery.

Furniture store? Hey…it’s her birthday, she can go wherever she wants…

Happy birthday Babe!

Our friends at the Silver Spoon are now hosting baby showers out on the pond behind the store. We were asked to take some photos showing their setup which was beautifully done by Celebrations! and Simple Pleasures Restaurant & Catering. I had a tough time keeping my hands off the food, it was delicious! Here are a few of our favorites, doesn’t it look yummy? Wonderful job everyone!

“An inordinate passion for pleasure is the secret of remaining young” -Oscar Wilde

We had another visit from the family of cool, this time with the sassy and inspirational Miss Bree.

Stef and I simply adored working with this eleven year old charmer. She gave us looks and attitude rarely seen in people twice her age.

That being said, the photograph of her dancing is one of my favorites in a long time. To me it represents the shining optimism and idealism of youth, the carefree attitude youth affords, and the “Dance like no one is watching” frame of mind.

Stay there as long as you can Bree, it goes by so fast.

Thank you for sharing some of it with us.

Rich & Heather are our oldest Sacramento friends (actually Stef knew Rich in junior high) and it has been a great ride experiencing many of life’s great adventures together. The news of a baby Landrum was no exception and the suspense is killing us. Would you guys just peek already??

I don’t remember a maternity session where the interaction between the couple overshadowed the belly, but these two were just electric. A wonderful warm connection that really shows here.

Congratulations you two, we are so proud to be part of this (and many other) important moments of your life.

This is Miss R, another one of our Little Angels participants. We first met R 2 years ago, and she was seriously the easiest 2 year old we’ve ever photographed; took direction like a charm. Well, you can see that nothing has changed 2 years later. While she was okay with the whole angel concept, she just lit up when we let her choose a pettiskirt to try on and test out its twirling ability. The best part is that these portraits are a surprise for her dad for Father’s Day; it’s been a tricky procedure for mom to make this all work (and not have Miss R spill the beans!). I think he’ll just melt when he sees them!

The McGuckin family has been with us for so long…their oldest daughter, G, was one of the 1st newborns we photographed! While they have been some of our best clients over the years, bringing both of their extended families to be photographed as well, they have also become friends–the best bi-product of this amazing job we have! We thought it was so sweet that they wanted to capture their darling daughters in the essence of their age right now–in princess dresses! Now, these were 2 of the prettiest dress-up dresses I’ve seen; they really looked like royalty in them! Thanks to Scott & Janelle for your amazing support over the years and entrusting us to document these precious times. We are forever grateful!

The Dunn sisters came to us because their mom was one of our Little Angels drawing winners from the Silver Spoon children’s boutique. Mom was so excited when she found out she won, and asked if it would be okay to also bring these unbelievably GORGEOUS dresses she had purchased from the Silver Spoon for a wedding. Would it???!! We couldn’t have asked for more beautiful clothing for a session!! Big sis E was a bit more into the whole concept of having portraits taken than little sister, A, but in the end we were still able to capture a couple of great images of them together, which is what mom really wanted. Another very cool outcome from us meeting the Dunn’s is that mom is a pediatric nurse practioner with a pediatrician here in Roseville (Dr. Valdez) who just happened to need wall decor for their brand-new office; we volunteered to donate portrait art to fill their need, and their office now has about 14 large wall portraits hanging (of course we couldn’t resist putting one up of the Dunn girls!). Thanks to Dr. Valdez and his wife Debbie for letting us take over their entire office for 2 hours last Friday to hang portraits!

It’s the end of the school year for Reilly, and the Spartans finished with a bang at their annual carnival. The staff and volunteers did a fantastic job (as usual!) setting up booths with food and games. Reilly and Teagan had a great time with their friends eating yummies, getting faces painted, and receiving balloon “swords”.

I discovered the competitive nature of Reilly and her distaste for losing when I noticed some tears running down her cheeks after the bean bag toss.

“Reilly, what’s wrong? Did you fall? Are you hurt? Was some BOY mean to you?”

“No…It’s just that…sniff…I didn’t even get ONE beanbag in the hole!!” sniff, sniff…

Couldn’t help it, I chuckled a little. She wouldn’t look at me after that…(photo below) but it was kinda funny…

One face paint booth later and all was forgotten.

Thank you Mrs. Anderson for doing such a wonderful job with Reilly and her classmates, we will miss you next year. Go Spartans!!

The girls trying their luck at the bean bag toss.

Reilly lost miserably, and was not amused.

Hmmmm….

Teagan! That is not your pool!!!

Hey Reilly, nice…eh…balloon…
