Ok guys, here are some tips on what to do when your wife discovers long hair (clearly not yours) all over your shirt.

1. Act perplexed, but not surprised.

2. Say “I don’t know”…a lot

3. Suddenly get upset, and say “Honey, are you cleaning your brushes out in the bedroom again?”

4. Grab your nearest daughter, check for a match, then…

5. Make sure you were not the one who issued her a pair of scissors.

Miss T and I had been snuggling that morning which explains the shirt. A quick search revealed this under the kitchen table.

Thought i’d share an example of how the girls always act when they are together.

Ok, maybe not ALL the time…

Ok, maybe just for 1/250th of a second…but wow they sure are cute!

Big girl school has arrived for Reilly. Stef and I walked with her to make sure she could handle this big jump to first grade. We arrived at campus fully prepared for tears, anxiety and everything else that accompanies a young girl on the first day.

Well, she could have cared less about all that….

Within seconds Reilly disappeared into the labyrinth of backpacks, lunches and old friends. Stef and I might have well not even been there. I tried to get a hug…and FINALLY got it…but it took some threats of embarrassment to get it.

She’s a big girl now…

Too big…

On a fairly regular basis, the girls and I like to roughouse a little. It never really gets out of hand (c’mon, they’re girls), but I always know things are about to get serious when Teagan says “Dad, take your glasses off.”

For some reason tonight I thought there is a message in that for us all. Be it Carpe Diem, live life to the fullest, there is no tomorrrow…there are a million quotes to express the sentiment, I don’t know if I’ve ever heard it put more succinctly than from our three year old. Ok, maybe Nike…

Anyway…

Take your glasses off.

Teagan and I took Reilly over to CJ’s (our favorite kids salon) to get her hair “trimmed” as she was long overdue. While I was in the play area with Teagan, Carla came around the corner and said, “James, Reilly has decided to changed it up a little, I think we need to chat.”

Anyway, the ‘trim’ turned into quite the chop, and when she was done, Reilly just sat in the chair smiling in the mirror. Isn’t it cute?

Best intentions….

We had been reading about the full scale replica of the Nina docked in Old Sacramento for a while and finally decided to take the girls to see it.

We were a day late…

So…we visited the old schoolhouse, had lunch and went to the treat shop, which disappointingly was more interesting to the girls than anyting Old Sac had to offer.

This scene lasted about 20 seconds…all the time it took Teagan to realize that chalk made really annoying sounds on the board.

Reilly read the list of punishments…and was not amused.

One hot momma!

Reilly’s toughest decision of the day. What to get at the treat shop.

Hey, those gymnastics lessons are paying off!

We just don’t know yet…

Stef and I joined our good friends Jourdan & Kirsten for the Sacramento film festival Saturday night. Jourdan is a filmmaker and had two entries in the festival. They were both stellar! it was fantastic to see them on the big screen with an audience…way cool.

Anyway, we are anxiously awaiting how the judges felt, as this year they didn’t annouce the winners immediately after the show. tick tick tick….

“Sold out?!?, Hey man, I’m the director!”

If you haven’t been to the Crest, you should check it out. Coolest theatre in town.

The silver purple screen

Anxiously awaiting his premiere.

While we were out having some coffee, Reilly asked once again to pick up the camera. I tried to fool her with different things in front of me…she still got it. Here is her favorite from the evening. Way to nail that 1.4 Reilly!

Well our baby little girl turmed six today and had a wonderful time with a few friends for the party. She started the day at Petroglyph, a pottery painting boutique and made a beautiful mess. The girls all chose their ceramics then got to go wild with their choice of paint.

Next it was back to the house where they dined on fresh pizza, soda, and finished with some amazing cupcakes from Icing the Cupcake…yummy! Here are a few from the day, stay tuned for more.

THE PLACE.

THE PLAYERS.

One more thing…

Don’t know where this gift came from, but ummm…not sure what to say…

thanks?

Reilly has never taken particularly well to the water. Last year when Stef and I enrolled her in the city swim lessons, it basically turned into ‘splash’ lessons. At the end of several weeks, our little star was a pro at standing on the steps and splashing water around…

This year we were encouraged to enroll her in a smaller more focussed private class. Good choice..Reilly was swimming by the second session. At the end of the course she passed all the tests and earned her level 1 “frog” status.

Now if only I trusted Miss T in the pool….
