The gorgeous Gilly’s (as we like to call them!) have been coming to see us since they were newborns. We’ve become friends with this family and always look forward to their next session (they also have a little sis and another baby on the way…thanks for keeping us busy!). This time we went out and about to a different location to add some variety to their collection of portraits. Their mom always does such an awesome job on their wardrobe selection, which definitely makes a difference! We have always thought these kids could be models, and Miss R actually had her first gig not too long ago–you can see her in the current fall Pottery Barn Kids catalog! Way to go!

I have known the Brubaker’s for a long time…well, technically, I’ve know mom (Stephanie) a really long time–since junior high! We photographed little sis during our Cutest Kid contest in January, and they loved her images so much that they decided to bring big sis for her own session. She’s 10 and was so cute…totally into what she wore, right down to her earings for each outfit. I love how these images capture so many sides of her, but my favorite (and theirs) is the first; it shows just a bit of little girl left…in some of her images she looked so much older and mature, but this first one shows there’s still some little girl left in her. I think that’s probably why they choose it, too (not to mention the fact that it’s just darn cute!). Such a cool age to capture!

Mr. S and big sis came to see us for his Bebe graduation session not too long ago, and we thought their outfits were appropriate for an almost 4th-of-July post here! S was one of the most beautiful babies I’ve seen, and he has grown into an even more stunning toddler. His shock of curls and amazing blue eyes are just out-of-this-world! It’s funny to look back at his newborn images, because his hair stuck straight up, almost in a mohawk-looking arrangement. As fun as it is to watch them grow over their first year, it’s been just as satisfying to see how much big sis has matured as well. She has become quite the little lady and didn’t mind being photographed at all (which wasn’t always the case!). We just love the Felahy’s and their kids! I should also mention that dad is Dr. Felahy, a wonderful family dentist in Rocklin (Sunset Oak Dental). He gave Reilly her first filling a few months ago, and he was great with her. She didn’t even realize that she had gotten a shot of novacaine he was so good!

We’re super excited to announce our upcoming event at the Silver Spoon Children’s Boutique! On Saturday, May 16 we’ll be at their store from 10am-1pm photographing moms and their kiddos to raise money for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation. We hope that all of you will come out in support of breast cancer research and get a cute mom & me portrait while you’re at it! We’ll be “thinking pink” that day and photographing on a pink background, so be sure to plan your clothing accordingly (don’t worry–if pink isn’t your thing you can choose the black & white option!). No appointment is necessary, so come on out and and get photographed for the cure!

Sassy Miss C. was another one of our Cutest Kid entrants from earlier in the year, as well as another one of our “small world” encounters. When C and her mom were here for the 1st time, I immediately realized I knew them from somewhere. It turns out the Miss C. and our Reilly were in the same pre-school class together when they were just three! Well, C is all grown up now at the ripe old age of six and gave us some amazing looks; our fun hats worked perfectly with her sparkly blue eyes and gorgeous hair. It was so great running into them again…such a small world around here!

First off, sorry for the lagging blog posts lately…it’s been a crazy couple of weeks! Anyhow, you might remember the fabulous Miss S. from our Cutest Kid contest a bit ago. This lovely little girl just turned 4 in February (yes, she was still 3 when we photographed her!) yet somehow managed to work the camera like a pro! Kudos to mom, by the way, for the amazing clothing she brought. We were all dying throughout her session, in disbelief at how natural and poised she was in front of the camera, and also how well she took direction. She was one of our finalists who modeled on stage at the Sacramento stop of Sandy Puc’ Tots to Teens national tour. She wowed the crowd there just as much as here. I do believe this little diva has a very bright future!

You might remember Miss O from our Cutest Kid contest back in January…she rose to the occasion and gave us some really fun stuff! A little background about O….her mom and I (Stef) go all the way back to junior high. It’s scary to me that we’re actually old enough to have kids this old!! It’s hard for me to believe that my own daughter is at the age I was when I met some of my friends that I still know today, in my thirties (no need to get more specific than that! :-). Anyway, Miss O was a ball of fun energy and we can’t wait to photograph her big sis next!

If you follow our blog, then you’ll recall our National Charity Model Search Cutest Kid contest in which we participated starting in January. We posted each entrant’s image and the link to the online voting galleries. The voting is open until the beginning of April, but our top two vote-getters to date were invited to model at the Sacramento leg of well-known portrait photographer Sandy Puc’ national speaking tour, “Tots to Teens.” Sandy Puc’ is the genius behind the Charity Model Search, so that’s how it got tied in with her speaking tour. Anyhow, in each of the 50 cities she’s visiting, she invites the top two cutest kid contestants from the city, and we were thrilled to have our adorable clients as the city winners! Four-year old Savannah and three-year old Sophia were unbelievable at the show! Sandy used them as models to demonstrate a live portrait session, and these tiny tots could have passed for pro’s! I was beaming with pride, as were their families, and Savannah and Sophia took directions perfectly and made us so proud. Did I mention that they did this on a huge stage in front of several hundred photographers? James snapped a few images to show the magnitude of what these girls did. Thanks to both Savannah and Sophia and their families for representing us so well….we always say we have the best clients…and it’s been proven true once again! Way to go girls!
