The Dunn sisters came to us because their mom was one of our Little Angels drawing winners from the Silver Spoon children’s boutique. Mom was so excited when she found out she won, and asked if it would be okay to also bring these unbelievably GORGEOUS dresses she had purchased from the Silver Spoon for a wedding. Would it???!! We couldn’t have asked for more beautiful clothing for a session!! Big sis E was a bit more into the whole concept of having portraits taken than little sister, A, but in the end we were still able to capture a couple of great images of them together, which is what mom really wanted. Another very cool outcome from us meeting the Dunn’s is that mom is a pediatric nurse practioner with a pediatrician here in Roseville (Dr. Valdez) who just happened to need wall decor for their brand-new office; we volunteered to donate portrait art to fill their need, and their office now has about 14 large wall portraits hanging (of course we couldn’t resist putting one up of the Dunn girls!). Thanks to Dr. Valdez and his wife Debbie for letting us take over their entire office for 2 hours last Friday to hang portraits!

It’s the end of the school year for Reilly, and the Spartans finished with a bang at their annual carnival. The staff and volunteers did a fantastic job (as usual!) setting up booths with food and games. Reilly and Teagan had a great time with their friends eating yummies, getting faces painted, and receiving balloon “swords”.

I discovered the competitive nature of Reilly and her distaste for losing when I noticed some tears running down her cheeks after the bean bag toss.

“Reilly, what’s wrong? Did you fall? Are you hurt? Was some BOY mean to you?”

“No…It’s just that…sniff…I didn’t even get ONE beanbag in the hole!!” sniff, sniff…

Couldn’t help it, I chuckled a little. She wouldn’t look at me after that…(photo below) but it was kinda funny…

One face paint booth later and all was forgotten.

Thank you Mrs. Anderson for doing such a wonderful job with Reilly and her classmates, we will miss you next year. Go Spartans!!

The girls trying their luck at the bean bag toss.

Reilly lost miserably, and was not amused.

Hmmmm….

Teagan! That is not your pool!!!

Hey Reilly, nice…eh…balloon…

What do a pool, a trampoline, a bunch of Italians, cake and some wrestling masks have in common?

An Awsome wedding! As many of you know, Stef and I are photographing a select number of weddings now and what a wonderful one this was. We couldn’t have asked for a more laid back and friendly group of people. Lindsey and Davide were an absolute pleasure to watch enjoying their day and we felt privileged to be a part of it.

Davide is from Sicily, (where they met) and brought many friends and family members across the Atlantic to witness this beautiful day. My Italian is..eh, a-not so good-a, but everyone understood fun!

Thank you to both families for letting us capture these moments and for making us feel so welcome throughout the day (and night!)

More coming soon…

Siblings A & L are the cousins of some of the other cute kids we’ve been lucky enough to photograph. They were some of the most willing subjects we’ve had in a long time–lucky us!! They had such sweet spirits that make me smile every time I look at these images. It also helped that aunt Tracie joined them at their session as the official stylist, choosing all of amazing clothes A & L wore during their session. Bravo!

Baby J was here a few weeks back for his second Bebe session. We’ve had a ton of these lately, as so many of our Bebe kiddos were all born around the same time! True to form for this age, J was happy as a clam–couldn’t get a bad image of this little dude. I’m thinking that part of why he’s so happy is that he has so many fans; both sets of grandparents accompanied mom & dad to his image presentation appointment, oohing and awing over every image on the screen. How could you not adore this face?

Senior season began early this year with a session with another member from the family of cool. Anthony was actually scheduled with us earlier but the poor guy got tagged in the face with a baseball…ouch!

All healed up now, he had me (Stef sat this one out) meet him at the Powerhouse park in Folsom. This place is just full of interesting nooks and crannies for great photographs, and I think I stuffed Anthony in about all of them. He was up for it all, and we had a really good time. His younger sis got to be a lighting assistant/fashion editor for the day, more on her later… Thanks B!

Here are a few of my faves.

The first time my friend Rich and I saw Muse play live, we were both…overwhelmed. It was June of 2004, and they played at Empire, a small club downtown Sacramento. I remember several times throughout the show Rich and I exchanged glances of amazement. We both knew immediately we were seeing something special.

I’ve seen them several times since then(Stef went too!), and they have never failed to impress…no, more than that, they just blow me away!

Well finally the rest of the world can experience what I believe to be the finest live act of the decade…perhaps the finest in my lifetime. “Haarp” is the first official live DVD released in the States and it was definately worth the wait. Recorded playing to a massive crowd at Wembley Stadium, the trio was on their game. I have not seen a better live show than this. Seriously, even the 3D U2 show doesn’t touch it.

If you enjoy rock music whatsoever, you really owe it to yourself to run out and buy the DVD(it even comes with the recording on CD!). I don’t work for the label and this is not a paid placement. It just astounds me that so (relatively) few people I know and run into have not heard of one of the best bands in the history of rock and roll. I just had to share. Hope you enjoy!

For those of you in the area, Roseville held a special celebration Friday night for the recent renovation of old town. We went along with the McClures to check it out. Lots of work has been done over the last several months and it is really coming together. There were several food and beverage vendors, live music, and the highlight for the girls…a face painting booth.

Always nice to see the community get together like this and we are glad to support it. We finished off the evening at a soft opening of the new restaraunt ‘Basic’ on Pacific street. It’s a way cool urban ultra lounge that serves fantastic wood fired pizzas and great salads. The place was jammed packed with plenty of city planners, architects, designers, and passers by just checking out the scene. Looking forward to more events like this in the future!

Baby C is another of our Bebe members who just completed his 2nd of 3 first-year sessions. I have to say, the sessions with babies this age (around 7-8 months) are my absolute favorite (that doesn’t mean I don’t love and enjoy all of the others, too! :-). The babies are just so stinkin’ happy to be alive, sitting up, and sometimes crawling around that they just can’t contain their joy! C was no exception, as he just happily agreed with whatever we wanted him to do that day. Thanks for making our job so fun, little man!
