Another fun family session where the kids were just amazing! They both did great, but little brother was quite the ham. I just love the one of them in the red chair…what a great big sis!

What can I say about the Cochran family, other than that they were just wonderful to work with? That about sums it up! The Cochran kids were especially easy, given their young ages. Miss K is only three! (going on thirteen, I believe..) The kids pretty much did whatever we wanted them to, which is usually unheard of at these ages. Mom and dad weren’t too difficult either :-). This first family image is own of our new fav’s…in fact, it’s now hanging in our gallery. Thanks so much for giving us such a great experience!

We met the McMurry family as a result of a silent auction we donated to; they were the high bidder and we couldn’t have asked for a better winner! We went on location to McKinley Park, as it’s right around the corner from where they live. Such a pretty setting, and the duck pond is a great place for the kids to forget they’re being photographed. Another small world story here–we found out very quickly after meeting that it was not the first time we all had met. They used to live a few doors down from my (Stef) dad and we’d been introduced on a couple of occasions that way. What a small, small world!

Our favorite time of year is upon us, and we thought we’d share some of our favorite fall colors portraits from last year. If you want to have portraits done in this magical, very short time of year, the time is here! We have just a few sessions still available, but it’s not too late. We can’t wait to share this beautiful time of year with you!

We had the pleasure of meeting and photographing the Vittek family, thanks to the Felahy family who referred them. I knew this would be a very meaningful session for everyone involved when mom Lisa explained to me that 3 year-old K has a very serious form of muscular dystrophy and has repeatedly been defying odds since she was born. The first thing that struck us about Miss K was how tall she is! Then, and more poignantly, her sweet disposition is what stood out. Her interaction with her parents was so genuine and fun. Lisa wanted to capture just how lively and smart K really is, and I think her portraits tell that story so well. Thanks for sharing your precious miracle with us!

We met the wonderful Siska family through our good friends at CJ’s Cuts for Kids hair salon in Roseville. They wanted to capture the fun and love that abounds in their family full of boys. We had a great time doing both some traditional portraits as well as “action” shots of mom and the boys wrestling on the grass. The last image was very special, as they brought their family Bible with their last name inscribed and wanted to incorporate that into their family portraits. We just loved the thought they put into that ahead of time and the final results were great! For those of you who have checked out our new website (enchantedimageslife.com), the awesome image of the 3 boys’ backs is these handsome young lads!

This summer we had the privilege of photographing a great big, fun extended family out at the Granite Bay Country Club. The group was brought together from across the world for a family wedding here in town and wanted to capture the rare event of them all being together. It was great getting to see the closeness and humor between such a large family. Yesterday we were reminded of how very important capturing these moments is, as I received an email from our friend and client who organized this whole thing, that her dear grandmother (shown center in the first image) passed away just last week. She reiterated how important these portraits will always be to their family and thanked us again for the beautiful images. We, in turn, thank them for giving us this important job…we are honored and so sorry for your family’s loss.

There’s been some changes at the Hays household this year. New commitments, new outlooks and new decisions.

As we continue to grow and enjoy what we are doing day to day, the line between “work” and play continues to blur. Whether we are on a bike ride, busy in the studio or taking the girls to school, no one thing becomes dramatically more important than the other. It is just – life…

With that we have launched a new site we feel fits us well, and gives a nice introduction to our style. Our blog of will continue (of course!) right here and will still be the place we share day to day life.

Thank you friends, clients and family for making this journey with us. We are truly grateful.

Photographing the Jewart family was fun for us for many reasons, but mostly because they’re good friends of ours from Stockton. Tissa & I (Stef) were college roommates at UC Davis and have remained good friends ever since. The birth of baby G was what prompted them to have these portraits made, but we couldn’t resist getting the whole gang involved. I think our favorite image from the session was their “family feet,” which they had made in a 20×40 gallery wrapped canvas to hang over their bed. We were lucky to get to see their portraits hang in their home, as we went for a visit on Labor Day weekend. I was tempted to swipe that one for our gallery I loved it so much! Thanks for such an awesome time and the great visit…the girls had a blast!

When the Bueno family came to us, I immediately knew that I had crossed paths with mom, Christina, somewhere; then, when I met her oldest dauther, B, it occurred to me–our daughter Reilly and their daughter B had been in a ballet class together 2 years ago! I went back and looked at the photos from their recital and we even have an image with their daughter smiling away on stage next to Reilly! That was just the beginning of our connecting with the Buenos; we could have talked all day with them about their travels and our mutual affinity for good wine. Coupled with their adorable girls, it was a fantastic session all around. The girls had so much fun with ours after the session that B was asking to set up a play date as they were leaving…so cute!
