Before I talk about the lovely Lusk family, I must first apologize for our speed (or lack thereof) of posting on here these days; we’re working feverishly to make sure everyone gets their cards and portraits in time for Christmas! Now, on to the Lusk family! We were lucky to meet the Lusk’s thanks to our friends at pediatrician Dr. Valdez’s office. Mom Tara also works for Sacramento Parent magazine and has helped inform us of some great opportunities (look for us in the new Sac Parent Source Book and their Babies & Bumps Expo in March!). Anyhow, they brought little M for his 2 year portraits and were quite concerned about what would come of this portrait session. Well, suffice it to say, they were pleased with the outcome! It was so fun working with this family and we’re so grateful to Tara and Bob for all of their excitement about their portraits, and most importantly, their sweet boy, M.

A couple weekends ago we held our 2nd annual Costumes & Cans event, but this was the first time we held it at The Silver Spoon children’s boutique in Granite Bay. It was meant to be a fun way for families to get cute Halloween portraits of their kids, and for us to collect canned food to donate to the food bank. It was a huge success, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to all of the parents who dressed their kids up and brought them out with their food donations. We especially want to thank the wonderful owners of the Silver Spoon who let us take over their store! In the end, we collected over 400 cans of food. What an awesome show of support from the community! We’ve posted a few of our favorites from the event here. Hats off to the parents who made such a great effort on these amazing costumes!

Okay, so this is our version of W! This handsome young fella is part of a family you’ve seen on here a couple of times before–the Farrell family, first for their maternity session and then for baby brother’s newborn session. Young W wasn’t really in the mood for photographs at either of those sessions (although he did grace us with his presence in a couple of family shots at the maternity session), so mom and dad thought he should have a session all to himself. Apparently that’s what he wanted, because he was all about being photographed this time around! Can you believe this kid’s not even 3 yet?! I love these images more each time I look at them. Just wait until you see his Halloween portrait from our Costumes & Cans event!

Funny story how we met the Gardner’s…when we decided to re-style what used to be our dining room into our new gallery/lounge area, we listed our dining set on craigslist. Well, the Gardner’s were the nice folks who purchased the set from us. Fast forward a couple of months, and Julie contacted us and said she’d like to have H’s one-year portraits made by us, and that’s how the story goes! Mr. H was so sweet and cooperative during his session, and we especially loved the one here with mom. Oh, one more cool thing about the Gardner’s we can’t help but mention….dad was on the gold medal-winning Olympic indoor volleyball team! (he was in Beijing when these portraits were taken)

We first met the Youmans family over a year ago when they came as part of a benefit we were raising money for. Little miss B charmed us at the young age of 22 months then. Fast forward a year and here we are with Miss B turning three and a new little brother to show off. B stole the show once again with her adorable personality and beautiful smile. We could have photographed her all day long!

You might remember this handsome young lad from his family session earlier in the summer (Posey family). Well, when they showed up that day mom realized that she forgot this hand-made, family heirloom outfit at home, which is at least 40 minutes away. We didn’t want them to miss out on having T photographed in the outfit that’s been worn by several generations of their family, so we invited them back with this adorable outfit (and sweet boy!). T was so cute and once again, wouldn’t stop smiling! He really is the happiest kid I’ve ever seen. We just love the variety of looks from his session, from a bit edgy on the red leather chair, to very formal and classical with the antique chair. Thanks once again for being such a great sport, T!

We want to collect tons of food this year to contribute to the KCRA Kids Can! food drive and need your help! This event will be a great way to help those in need and get a super cute photograph of your little ghouls and goblins. Bring your kids, neighbors and family and let’s make a difference! Hope to see you there!

The McConnell boys are near and dear to my heart as their mama is one of my oldest friends. Leanna and I have known each other since high school but really became great friends right after and have remained so over the years. Despite us always living in different parts of the state from each other and not talking nearly enough anymore, she’s still one of my dearest friends, which is why these photographs of her boys are even more special! C and L are two of the sweetest boys, and we’re so sad they live far away. Did I mention their auntie is also our best babysitter?? We just love this family!
