It’s hard to believe that our “little” miss Teagan is 3 years old today. Our life has been fuller, more fun, and definitely unpredictable since our comedian was born, and we wouldn’t change a bit of it! Teagan is so full of life and lives for the pure enjoyment of the moment; we could all take a lesson or two from her. She celebrated on Sunday with a Princess Party in our backyard, and today we will go out for special birthday cupcakes. Happy Birthday Teagan! We love you!

Meet baby I. This little guy was very relaxed in the studio and couldn’t decide whether he wanted to nap or just lay there looking cute…so we photographed both! Big brother joined in on some of the action and then we topped it off with mom & dad. Don’t they look fabulous?

Usually with babies we experience a variety of moods during a session. Baby D here just had one…HAPPY! This little guy was all about enthusiasm, and was as happy & giggly as could be. Thanks to mom for helping coax these wonderful expressions. And thanks D for giving us such a good time!

This little angel is Miss Ainsley, one of our newest Bebe members. She was just the sweetest thing at her session and gave us so many amazing images, but this by far was our favorite. We liked it so much that James entered it in our local monthly PPA (Professional Photographers of America) print competition last month; this image just happened to win the award for Best of Portrait Category! Thanks MIss A!

Easy to lose.

Even easier to waste.

And impossible to get back…

“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Life moves pretty fast.

If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

You may have seen a few images of these good looking kids from our Little Angel promotion. Thanks J & A for being our ‘models’ for the afternoon.

Here are a few more from that session.

Keep an eye out for more from the ‘Angels’ sessions (currently in progress!) coming soon…

Back in high school, I had a habit of wearing various articles of clothing (or accessories) that I thought were cool…even if that wasn’t necessarily the case.

My mom: “James, you are NOT wearing a hairclip to school!” (give me a break, it was the 80’s)

So…I guess in Teagan’s exploration of fashion and self expression, what goes around comes around…

Photographing Noah (and little sis, too) was like working with a little supermodel! Kids are funny, b/c sometimes they’re completely into the experience of being in front of the camera, but other times, they would rather be doing anything but that. Noah was obviously the first, and James had a blast with him. We had a great session with little sister, Peyton, last fall, so this time it was Noah’s turn, but MIss P jumped in for a few shots this time around. She’s not even 3 years old and has such a commanding presence in front of the camera (which is what mom & dad say about her personality, too!). I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw either of these kids on the pages of a magazine someday!

Once in a while we get requests to photograph extended families, but it seems like lately we’ve been seeing more of them than ever. These portraits seem to be increasingly difficult for people to execute, with families living in all parts of the state or country and having busy lives. That being said, we’re thrilled to see families making the effort and realizing the importance of documenting their familial relationships with portraiture. The Okland family wins the award for most miles traveled; they came from N. Carolina, Indiana, Nevada, and California. They were such a fun and loving group to work with, and all the little ones were surprisingly cooperative! Thanks to Heather for bringing all her family to us!

Mr. J is another Bebe Collection member and he was all smiles at his last session. He was such a riot and making the funniest faces. We’ve photographed his big brother, A, a few times before, and seeing J was like looking his big bro’s clone–they look exactly alike! That always amazes me, how some people have kids that all look alike, and then there are others (like us), whose kids don’t even look related!
